The Kaiju Preservation Society
A twist on all the Godzilla/monster movies, where instead you have to study and project them from the military/industrial complex. Lots of fun and a surprisingly low-stress read for much of the book.

Spider-Punk
My kind of superhero comic book, one that is absolutely full of punk references. The storyline is a little haphazard, but I'll allow it cause the villain has the Misfits face and devilock.

Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants
This was really great - an mix of essays covering Indigenous thinking and botany and personal history and everything in between. The science never feels too deep and everything is really accessible; I'm glad we picked this for the beach read.

Legends & Lattes
The ultimate feel good book; fantasy gone adorable and cozy. I wouldn't mind if my D&D campaigns went this way.

The Complete Maus
Had expectations coming in with the reputation of this book and its recent notoriety from being banned and not only was it still not what I was expecting, but it was even more impressive. An incredible story about living through WWII and the Holoc...

America the Beautiful?
This is great - a snarky travelogue from a Midwestern millennial who quits their job to road trip to the national parks. Incredibly relatable, insightful, critical, with a sharp wit, and making me think I've been doing these all wrong by not getti...

Black Cat Social Club
Graphic novel with punk witches whose struggling band hits it big after making a deal with the devil, but then they're the only ones who can stop the monster apocalypse. Fun art, deep philosophy on being in a DIY punk band, with a good sense of hu...

Someone Who Isn't Me
Singer from the band Thursday writes a novel about his experimental treatment for addiction where he's the main character, so it's super autobiographical and full of punk easter eggs, which makes it really interesting. I'm a fan and like that we k...

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
It was pretty interesting to have read this book to learn about Coriolanus Snow and a perspective of the Hunger Games from his perspective. Also, I am very happy to have written this review having come full circle with my conflict with getting wor...

The Wishing Game
Like Willy Wonka , but with an author and a book, no oompa-loompas, nobody dies and everyone gets *something* good. Felt a little like a kids' book? But I don't think it was intended for a young audience.
