Full-Time Librarian  |  Adult Services

The Barrington Area Library is seeking a full-time Adult Services Librarian. This team member will be instrumental in establishing and developing Community Outreach services while providing exceptional customer-centered librarianship.

A successful candidate will:
➠ cultivate partnerships with local senior living facilities;
➠ plan and deliver innovative outreach services and programming to meet the needs of our community;
➠ oversee homebound delivery services;
➠ staff service desks and provide reference and reader’s advisory services, including information on library materials, services, equipment and facilities, as well as technological devices and digital resources;
➠ serve as a person-in-charge (PIC) on a rotating basis.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This is a full-time exempt position. The starting annual salary is $51,206. Relevant experience may be taken into salary consideration. This position earns vacation, sick, personal, and holiday pay and includes IMRF participation. Flexibility with scheduling and local travel is required.

Part-Time Assistant Librarian | Adult Services

The Barrington Area Library is looking for an Adult Services team member with a passion for customer and community service.

This person will:
➠ serve as primary point of contact for customers at service desks,
➠ actively promote Library services, materials, and programs to customers,
➠ provide reference and reader’s advisory services, and
➠ assist customers with a variety of technological devices and applications.

➠ You have relevant technology and digital media experience.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This part-time Assistant Librarian position is scheduled for an average of 19 hours per week (including day, evening, and weekend hours). Flexibility in scheduling is a must for all team members and the hourly wage begins at $18.91 per hour.

Part-Time Page | Material Services

The Barrington Area Library is recruiting for a part-time Page to join our Material Services team. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library.

This team member will:
➠ use our automated system to sort materials,
➠ shelve a variety of materials in all areas of the Library, and
➠ work independently within the Library.

About you:
➠ You are dependable.
➠ You are detail-oriented.
➠ You enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
➠ You’re eager to learn new skills.

Requirements and Skills:
➠ Ability to pass shelving test
➠ Ability to read 8-point font print
➠ Physical dexterity to reach shelves of various heights and push carts throughout your work shift
➠ Age 16 or older

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This year-round position may average between 12 - 16 hours per week and earns $10.15 per hour. Available shifts will include afternoon (1 - 5 PM), evening (5 - 9 PM), and weekend (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM & 1 - 5 PM) hours. Flexibility to cover or trade shifts is required of all staff.
