Part-Time Custodian - Building Services/Operations

The Barrington Area Library is recruiting for a part-time Custodian. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library. This key team player will work with the Building Services Manager in maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming facility.

A successful candidate will:
➠ Regularly monitor and maintain the Library's building structure, systems, and grounds.
➠ Perform custodial and janitorial tasks throughout the building and on the Library grounds.
➠ Perform meeting room set up and take down, and also cleaning of the furniture and rooms.
➠ Promptly respond to urgent cleaning tasks and ticket requests.
➠Deliver materials and packages to appropriate staff and departments.

Starting pay will be $14.87 - $18.58 per hour, dependent upon qualifications. This position will average approximately 20-29 hours per week and earn retirement, vacation, sick, and holiday benefits. The tentative work schedule may include 8 AM – 1 PM, Monday through Friday, with one Saturday per month. Flexibility with scheduling to cover additional or alternative shifts is required.

Part-Time IT Help Desk

The Barrington Area Library is looking for a part-time IT help desk team member to assist staff with technology. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library.

This team member will:
➠ serve as first point of contact for staff on IT issues,
➠ communicate effectively with staff while troubleshooting,
➠ participate in projects such as updating software and replacing hardware within the Library, and
➠ provide 1-1 instruction on technology to staff as needed.

About you:
➠ You excel at providing customer service.
➠ You have relevant knowledge of and experience with PC and Mac systems, along with Microsoft Server and Office products.
➠ You're motivated by the opportunity to help others.

Salary & Benefits: The salary range is $18.00 - $27.02 per hour. Benefits are not included with this position. Flexibility in scheduling is required for all staff.

Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Gain volunteer skills within our nationally-recognized public library, while earning volunteer hours needed for a club, badge, or application. Read the descriptions below, then follow the application instructions. Apply today for a great summer volunteer experience!

1) Summer Reading (June – August) Teen Volunteers

Shifts: Monday – Friday
Time slots: 10 AM – 12 PM OR 1 – 3 PM OR 3 – 5 PM

Multiple opportunities! Create buttons on our button maker to play an important role in our season-long Summer Reading event.

Consider this volunteer opportunity if you:
➠ are a Barrington 220 student entering grades 9 – 12,
➠ will commit to a minimum of 10 (two-hour) work shifts or more, and
➠ have experience with or just enjoy assisting children and adults.

2) Creator Fair (Saturday, August 3, 2019)

This one-day-only event has multiple volunteer opportunities both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Commitment is 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Both students entering grades 9 – 12 in fall 2019 and adults are encouraged to apply.

We need your help with the following activities:
➠Ice Cream Social Bar
➠Slime Bar
➠Popcorn Stand
➠Crafting Table

We need additional volunteers to:
➠Greet and direct participants
➠Set up and take down, prep and clean up

Interested in volunteering at the library? Do you have computer and technology skills? The Adult Services department is looking for volunteers to scan microfilm and digitize historic local newspapers. If you are a history buff, this might be the project for you.
