TEC4 Walter I. Kersten

Walter Irving Kersten was born March 21, 1922 in Elgin, to Carl and Lydia Koch Kersten.

 

He was married and had three sons.

 

Kersten was a veteran of World War II, inducted into the U.S. Army on January 15, 1942, and honorably discharged as a Tech 4 on November 27, 1945. He served in the 11th Parachute Maintenance Company, Airborne Division in the Pacific Theatre, with the mission of providing parachute packing and maintenance, and supply support for Airborne Division units.

 

By profession, he was a layout man for Jensen Construction.

 

Kersten died on June 15, 1956 in Waukegan, and is buried at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery with his family.
