BACOA (Barrington Area Council on Aging) has put together a page of resources and ideas.

• In a non-emergency situation, BACOA can perform well-being checks on local seniors. Email Terri Channer (tchanner@bacoa.org) or call 847.381.5030.

AgeGuide is the agency on aging for Suburban Cook County.

AgeOptions is the agency on aging for Lake, McHenry, and many other Chicago area counties.

Elderwerks refers services, providers, support, and benefits regarding senior living needs.

• Many stores have designated shopping times for seniors and other vulnerable populations. The Illinois Retail Merchants Association has a list of participating stores.

Food pantry information

• Barrington Township residents in need may call 847.381.5632 to schedule an appointment for a curbside pick-up of pre-packed food. Please be prepared to show proof of residence.

There is a donation box for nonperishable items outside the building. If you wish to contribute, call the township office at 847-381-5632 before dropping off so that someone can be there. Also very helpful: Donations of gift cards or checks. The office is closed, but donations can be sent to the township at 602 S. Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010. The township does not have the capacity to accept credit card donations.

Cuba Township Food Pantry operates from a list of approved recipients. To be added to the list, please email your contact information to info@cubatwpil.gov or leave a message at (847) 381-1924. The food pantry is currently operating as a drive-thru or home delivery.

Donations can be placed in the dropoff bin outside its offices at 28000 Cuba Road, Barrington, during business hours. Nonperishable items are welcome, especially adult diapers (L/XL), cleaning supplies, cereal, rice, broth, and canned fruits. Gift cards to Jewel or Walmart are welcome. The Community Meal - Starting Thursday, March 26, through April 30, The Community Meal will partner with St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Barrington to serve To-Go Meals to our community. Visit the website for complete details.
