Part-Time Adult Services Assistant Librarian

  • You can provide high quality customer service to Library visitors and staff.

Requirements and Skills:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a public setting
  • Familiarity with a variety of adult and teen literature

This Position Offers:

  • Salary starting at $20.87/hour, depending on qualifications.
  • Benefits including participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and generous paid time off.
  • A schedule of 20 – 29 hours as needed per week, including day, evening, and weekend shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is needed to support our team and customers.

The Library is seeking an HR professional who will advise managers and support all employees with experience, confidence, and compassion.

Requirements and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in HR services. Public library experience preferred.
  • Generalist experience including responsibility for talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee engagement, salary administration, coaching managers as leaders of people, training and a range of other HR services.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging employment regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • PHR certification preferred.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
Full-time, exempt position with 37.5 hour work week and flexibility on start time. Starting salary range: $65,000 – 70,000/year, depending on qualifications.

Benefits include: participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) plan; generous paid time off for vacation, sick days, and holidays; separate COVID sick pay as needed. Medical, dental, and life insurance plans are available, including generous cost-sharing by the Library of premiums for dependent health care.
