Designed by the architectural firm of Coder Taylor Associates, the new Barrington Area Library opened its doors in 1978.
A year later, March 4, 1979, in collaboration with the Barrington Area Arts Council, the Library opened its Gallery in the Library. Six art shows featuring local artists were planned each year. Styles and schedules have changed over the years, but the Library is still delighted to display works by local artists from time to time.
