Donald E. Skidmore

Donald E. Skidmore was born May 30, 1938 in Portland, Oregon, the son of the late Fredrick and Dolores (Savitzcki) Skidmore.

He left Portland to serve his country in the United States Army from 1956-1959 at the NIKE Missile Base in Barrington, IL.

When he was discharged, he married Evelyn Marie Johnson on November 21, 1959 in Barrington; they raised three children.

Skidmore started his career as a teacher and principal in Elk Grove Village, IL. Upon achieving his Doctorate in Education at Northern Illinois University, he became Superintendent in Amboy, IL in 1972 and later moved to Antioch, IL in 1978 as the Superintendent of Antioch School District 34.

He was a longtime member of United Methodist Church in Antioch, and also an active member of the Lions Club of Antioch. He also served on the Redevelopment Committee for the Village of Antioch.

Donald E. Skidmore passed away October 19, 2021, in Libertyville, IL, and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
