Martin Albert Jurs was born January 13, 1912 in Barrington, to Martin and Mamie Beck Jurs.

Life-long Barrington resident Jurs served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from October 20, 1942 until December 13, 1945, attaining the rank of Shipfitter Second Class.

Jurs married Shirley E. Stover on January 4, 1947 in Barrington; they raised two children.

Professionally, Jurs sold farm implements and owned a farm equipment dealership. His firm, Martin Jurs & Son, became a pump sales and service business into the early 1970’s. Mr. Jurs also served as caretaker of several estates in the area in his later years.

SF2 Martin Jurs died July 27, 1976 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and is buried with other family members in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
