CPL George T. Schneider

George Thomas Schneider was born May 20, 1895 in New York to Thomas and Mary Schneider.
Schneider left his position as a cable splicer for New York Telephone when he entered military service on April 27, 1917. He served in World War I in the Signal Corps, responsible for establishing and maintaining telegraph, telephone, and other communication systems for the U.S. Army Expeditionary Force. He was honorably discharged after 2 years overseas on July 1, 1919 as a Corporal.
Schneider was married to Marguerite Catherine Funk in Manhattan on October 24, 1922, and they raised one child in Queens.
Professionally, Schneider worked as an electrician and maintenance man, and installer for Western Electric until his retirement.
After his wife’s death, Schneider moved to the Barrington area to live near his only son.
CPL George Schneider died May 1, 1977, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
