Grant Henry Sibley was born November 25, 1897 in Chicago to Elmer and Allie Gorey Sibley.

Sibley entered active military service for World War I on April 6, 1916, and served in the 122nd Division until his honorable discharge three years later.

On June 10, 1925, he married Elinor Futterer in Chicago; they raised four children.

Sibley was a car salesman in his early career, and he later served as President of Grant Motor Sales, which he founded with two sons-in-law.

He worked more than 25 years for Jewel, as head of purchasing, director of transportation fleet, and head of the Western Division Sales and Operations.

Second Lieutenant Grant Sibley died August 1, 1975 in Park Ridge, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
