George Charles Engbrecht was born in Chicago on September 18, 1925, to George C. and Edna Olsen Engbrecht.
He studied at Northeastern Military Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, before graduating from Barrington High School.
Engbrecht served in U.S. Army in World War II as a Private, working at the Panama Canal.
On February 5, 1946, he married Helen Blanke in Barrington; they raised three children there.
Engbrecht made his career at Sewed Products, a family-owned business in Fox River Grove, retiring as a Vice President.
He enjoyed a longtime membership at the Biltmore Country Club in Barrington.
PVT George Engbrecht, Jr. died January 26, 1998 in Barrington, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
