PFC George V. Sawicki

George Vincent Sawicki was born March 20, 1923 in Chicago to George and Thyra Greenquist Sawicki.
Sawicki entered the U.S. Army on March 23, 1943 for service during World War II and was honorably discharged on December 2, 1945 as a Private First Class.
On July 19, 1945 he married Eleanor M. Nightingale, a Barrington native, in her hometown; they raised two children.
The couple moved to Lake Geneva in 1946, where Sawicki was employed by Wisconsin Telephone as a Central Office repairman for 38 years.
He was a member of the Woody Plants Society of Madison, Wisconsin Telephone Pioneers, and the Wisconsin Arborist Association.
PFC George Sawicki died January 13, 2005 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
