Donald Alverson Carmichael was born February 9, 1929 in Barrington to A. Dudley and Eleanor Alverson Carmichael.
He enlisted for service in U.S. Navy on March 11, 1946 at the age of 17, and was honorably discharged January 14, 1948. As a single man working in a Wisconsin factory, Carmichael had no obstacle to his re-enlistment on February 13, 1951 for U.S. Army service in Korea, and was honorably discharged again February 11, 1955. His rank and service details are unknown.
On September 15, 1958, Carmichael married Margaret Christel Williams in Hennepin County, Minnesota; they had one child.
Veteran Donald Carmichael died June 21, 1980 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis; he is buried with other family members in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
