Robert “Bob” Bond Griffin, Jr. was born on January 24, 1931 in Miami, Florida to the late Robert Sr. and Rita Brill Griffin.

Griffin graduated from Florida State University where he was editor of the Florida Flambeau school newspaper. Upon graduation, Bob served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, flying sea planes out of Bermuda.

It was there he met his wife Olga “Babs” Horlington. They were married on August 17, 1957 in Orange County, Florida, and raised four children.

Griffin’s 35-year career with Prudential Insurance Co. took him around the country with a final stop in Chicago where he was the Director of Group Sales.

Griffin moved his family to Barrington in 1970, where he was active in community projects and a champion of civil rights.  He served as President of Lines School PTO, a Board member of the Friends of the Barrington Public Library, and a leader in the Unitarian Church.

LT Bob Griffin, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
