Robert Charles Watson was born August 30, 1922 in McComb, Illinois, to Willard and Ruth Barclay Watson.

He entered the U.S. Army on August 18, 1942, and served until January 10, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a Technician Fifth Grade.

On September 8, 1947, Watson married Joan Christensen in Barrington; they raised four children there.

Professionally, he sold insurance, and owned Watson Insurance Company of Barrington

Watson was hailed as one of the pillars of community service. His civic involvements included past President of the Barrington Rotary Club, fundraiser for Barrington Historical Society, twice Commander VFW Post 7706, member of Sportsman Club of Barrington and an original member of the Chamber of Commerce of Barrington. He was also a 21-year member of Barrington’s Volunteer Fire Department.

TEC5 Robert Watson died September 28, 1980 in Barrington, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery with his wife and parents.
