Irving George Hager was born August 3, 1985 in Barrington, to George and Minnie Kublank Hager.

On June 9, 1920, he married Irene Meiners in Barrington Station; they raised two children.

Hager enlisted in the U.S. Army in December, 1916 to serve in WWI. He returned from France in March, 1919 as an Engineer in the Coast Artillery Corps, and was honorably discharged June, 1920. The U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) was designated to provide the personnel for all manned heavy artillery, railway artillery, and later, anti-aircraft artillery units. 

Professionally, he was a dairy farmer, and often assisted in his father’s lumber yard.

Hager was active in the civic affairs of Barrington, participating on the Zoning Board and the Village Board of Trustees. He was a Boy Scout Council leader and officer of American Legion Post #158.


Veteran Irving Hager died February, 1968, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
