SP4 Thomas A. Mogle Mogle

Thomas Alan Mogle was born June 27, 1959 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Eldon and Margaret Williams Mogle.


From the age of nine, Mogle grew up in Barrington, and was a 1977 graduate of BHS, where he was named to the North Suburban All-conference Baseball and Football Teams. He earned his BA in International Business from the American University of Paris and MFA in Cinema at Southern Illinois University.


Mogle entered the U.S. Army in May, 1980, and served with the 3rd Battalion, 14th Field Artillery in Germany before he was honorably discharged as a Specialist Fourth Class in April, 1984.


From baseball player to Army clerk, from accountant to trucker, from film enthusiast and screenwriter to professor of both Cinema and the English language -- wherever he went in the world, Mogle touched the lives of many. He will long be remembered for his free spirit, good conversation, and genuine interest in other people.


SP4 Tom Mogle passed peacefully on June 10, 2025 in Huajuapan de Le n, Mexico, where he had been teaching English at the Technological University of the Mixteca. He rests now at Barrington s Evergreen Cemetery with other family members.
