Miles Verlin Sturm was born May 1, 1919 in Arpin, Wisconsin, to Henry & Margaret Büschlen Sturm.


Sturm grew up in Wisconsin, and it was there he joined the U.S. Army on April 8, 1941 for service in World War II. He was an infantryman who was wounded in action in September 1944, and honorably discharged July 2, 1945 as a Private First Class.

 

Sturm was living in Barrington when he married Henrietta Holtzee in December, 1946; they raised three children there.

 

Professionally, Sturm was a mechanic, and worked in truck maintenance for Jewel Company. 
He was a member of St Paul United Church of Christ. 

 

PFC Miles Sturm died Jan 31, 1984 in Elgin, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
