Wesolowski served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Rainbow Division (42nd Infantry Division), a highly decorated unit of the U.S. Army National Guard, nicknamed "Rainbow" because it was formed from National Guard units across many states. The Division was known for its extensive WWII service, including liberating the concentration camp at Dachau.

On November 21, 1951, Wesolowski married Jacqualin A. Sauder in Island Lake; they raised one child.

Wesolowski retired from Western Electric as an electrical engineer, and was an avid golfer.

Veteran Edward Wesolowski passed away November 23, 2009, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
