David Arthur Brandt was born September 13, 1939 in Barrington, to Henry A. and Mary Laughlin Brandt.
Brandt graduated from Barrington High School in 1957, and Auburn University in 1961 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
After college graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force, completing flight school in December, 1962. He was assigned to the 17th Air Transport Squadron at Charleston (SC) Air Force Base.
On February 27, 1965, Lt. Brandt married Olivia Diann Adair in Charleston, South Carolina where he was a pilot; they had two children.
Brandt remained in the military, serving at Robins AFB in Georgia and in Colorado Springs. He was a recipient of the USAF Air Medal, awarded to U.S. military for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight, recognizing distinction above normal expectations.
After retiring from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, Brandt was a scout for the Phoenix Suns professional basketball team.
Lt. Col. David Brandt died on April 24, 2023, and is buried with his parents in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
