Thomas Navarre Dineen was born April 8, 1927 in Chicago to Thomas and Frances Cusick Dineen.
Dineen entered into service for World War II on April 24, 1944. He served aboard the U.S. Navy fleet oiler, the USS Caliente. Fleet oilers provided crucial underway replenishment of fuel and supplies to combat ships in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on May 24, 1946 as a Petty Officer Third Class.
After his release from the Navy, Dineen worked for Chicago Title & Trust as an office clerk where he met Dolorita “Rita” Raatz; they married before 1950, and raised two children in the northwest suburbs.
Dineen worked as a material analyst for Rockwell International in Carpentersville.
PHM3 Thomas Dineen died November 12, 1984 at his home in Cary, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
