Willard James Spicer was born May 27, 1909 in DeKalb, Illinois to Roy and Caroline White Spicer.


Spicer married Mildred Adeline Ziessow before 1940; they settled in Barrington.


He reported for duty in World War II on March 8, 1944, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant on April 1, 1946.


Professionally, Spicer worked as a technician, then maintenance supervisor, for a taxicab maintenance firm until his retirement in 1961.


Spicer and his wife moved to Oregon in 1967, and enjoyed cross-country motorcycling with his wife for vacations as late as 1980.


SGT Willard Spicer died April 16, 1985 in Eugene, Oregon, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
