Lloyd Wesley Brown was born June 18, 1908 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Lena Schutz Brown.

After completing four years of college, Brown emigrated to the U.S. in May, 1939, and his Canadian fiancée Elizabeth Mary Duncan followed; they were married on October 13, 1939 in Chicago.

Brown was age 32 when he registered for the World War II draft in October, 1940. He was called up for military service on August 30, 1943, and was serving in the HQ Battery, 402nd Field Artillery Battalion in Oklahoma when he was granted citizenship on June 13, 1944. He was also stationed at the U.S. Army Replacement Depot #4 which processed, classified, and trained troops as replacements for combat troops in the Pacific Theater before his honorable discharge on October 21, 1945 as a Corporal.

Brown was employed in the Business Management office of the Art Institute of Chicago, from 1939 until his retirement as Secretary and Assistant Treasurer in 1961.

CPL Lloyd Brown died January 29, 1963 in Elgin, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
