Donald Wilbur Cory was born January 6, 1926 in Oak Park to William H. and Edythe Hails Cory.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving from April 28, 1944 to April 6, 1948, when he was discharged as a Technician Fourth Class.

Cory was briefly married to Phyllis J. Porth. On January 17, 1955, Cory married Teresa Waskiewicz; they raised two daughters.

Cory was a graduate of Elmhurst College and then, DePaul University Law School and a member of the Chicago Bar Association. In 1959, he joined the legal staff of the National Association of Independent Insurers. For 29 years he served as Claims and Legislative Counsel for the association.

TEC4 Donald Cory died September 30, 1991 in Barrington, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
