James E. Flurry

James Emory Flurry was born on October 31, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama to Horace and Mary Reaves Flurry.
Flurry served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII from 1944 to 1946.
Following his military service, he attended and graduated from the University of Alabama where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
There Flurry met Norma Jean Gordon, who became his wife on September 9, 1950 in Jackson, Mississippi; they raised four children.
He worked as a sales and marketing executive for various companies and advertising agencies in the Chicago area, earning a place in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry 1974-1978.
Flurry helped develop the Deer Park community as head of the Planning Commission, and later served on the Village Board for 25 years. He was a member of the Village Church for 40 years.
After retiring, he indulged his furniture making hobby, and built furniture for his family that will be passed on to future generations and cherished as hand made by "Pa".
Veteran James Flurry passed away on September 10, 2019 at home in Deer Park, and is buried at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
