Edward Charles Kersting, Jr. was born September 23, 1921 in Chicago to Edward and Marie Paschke Kersting.
Kersting entered military service with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II on April 22, 1943.
On June 29, 1944, Kersting married Julie Mazzulla in Cook County; they proceeded to raise seven children.
He was taken prisoner as part of a heavy bomber crew in Austria on September 10, 1944, and released June 1, 1945. Kersting was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on October 11, 1945.
Prior to his retirement in 1980, Kersting was a foreman employed by Zenith Corporation in Chicago for 44 years.
He was a member of Barrington VFW Post #7706.
SSG “Bud” Kersting died April 10, 1993 in Kane County, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
