Edward Joseph Landers was born on January 27, 1936, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Edward R. and Genevieve Elliott Landers.

He graduated from Flint Technical High School, and was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business.

Landers devoted 20 years of his life to serving his country in the U. S. Navy, retiring as a Commander. A skilled aviator, he flew a wide range of aircraft and found great joy and purpose as a pilot. He continued his lifelong passion for flying with Northwest Airlines, from 1968 to 1996, where he Captained international flights on a Boeing 747.

Landers and his wife Barbara (née Bishop) maintained homes in Florida and in Elgin, while raising three children. He was a devoted and faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee.

CDR Ed Landers passed away in Elgin on March 19, 2026, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
