Webster Michael Ryan was born October 21, 1929 in Chicago to Henry and Dorothy Webster Ryan.

He graduated from Lake Forest Academy in 1947, then studied civil engineering at University of Illinois Chicago.

Ryan served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from March 13, 1952 to December 20, 1953. He married Barbara Pontius while stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 20, 1953.

He worked several years for Johns Mansville Company in Chicago before starting his own Barrington-based firm, W.M. Ryan Interior Contracting Co.

Ryan married his second wife, Rosemary Blackburn, in 1962; they raised five children.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding in his youth, and was an avid skeet shooter. He was fascinated with aviation and owned his own plane.

Ryan served his community as a volunteer policeman in Barrington and as Fire Marshall for Barrington Fire District.

Veteran Webster M. Ryan passed away February 19, 2017, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
