Wayne Kenneth Schneider was born in Orange, New Jersey on July 28, 1935, to Harry J. and Lillian Schneider.

He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity at the University of Illinois, where he graduated with a BS in Management in 1957.

On June 10, 1956, Schneider married Janet Ann Bradley in Decatur; they raised three children.

He knew early in life that he wanted to be a pilot, and participated in Air Force ROTC at the University of Illinois, and graduated with a 2nd Lieutenant’s commission in the U.S. Air Force. Schneider was an active-duty pilot for 9 years, flying F-102 fighter jets in the Air Defense Command, followed by 12 years in the USAF Reserves. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1979.

Schneider joined American Airlines in 1966, flying 727’s out of O’Hare Airport. He retired in 1995 but continued to fly his own planes, owning several Cessnas over the years.

Schneider lived in the Barrington area for 50 years, and wintered in Sanibel Island, Florida after 1984, where he was able to spend more hours on the golf course with friends and family members.

Lt Col Wayne Kenneth Schneider died January 1, 2019, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
