George August Schwartz, Jr. was born July 9, 1911 in Chicago to George and Laura Blumenthal Schwartz.
On November 20, 1933, Schwartz married Cecilia H. Loftus in Chicago; they raised two children.
Schwartz was activated for duty in World War II August 30, 1943, assigned to the 3rd Construction Regiment, a U.S. Navy Seabee reserve regiment providing command and control for multiple naval mobile construction battalions. He was honorably discharged November 8, 1945 at the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Second Class, responsible for the maintenance of exterior ship surfaces, rigging, and deck handling gear.
Before he retired, Schwartz was a professional maintenance and retail building consultant.
BM2 George Schwartz passed away September 23, 1995, and is buried with his wife at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
