Lawrence Mathias Simon was born December 9, 1925 in Chicago to Peter and Grace Fleck Simon.
He enlisted for World War II on January 7, 1944, and served in the U.S. Navy until June 17, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class.
On January 31, 1948 Simon married Dolores “Jean” Hayes; they raised five children in Country Club Hills before relocating to Barrington in the mid-1970’s.
Simon received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1950.
Professionally, he was a Research Engineer for American Can Company, where he was involved in research and perfection of the Mirro Strip, a specialized lithographed or reflective metallic band or labeling used on commercial beverage and food containers.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #3954 Barrington.
EM3 Lawrence Simon died September 18, 1993, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
