Harry Nelson Blakeslee, Jr. was born July 18, 1921 in Bakersfield, California to Harry and Gertrude Schnitzius Blakeslee.
In 1942, Blakeslee graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from July 31, 1945 to his honorable discharge as a Corporal on October 30, 1947.
In Reno, Nevada, in August of 1951, Blakeslee married San Mateo, California native, Marian Adolphson; they raised two children.
Blakeslee was employed by American Can Company in 1952, and held scientific and supervisory positions in R&D and Engineering. He was known as an innovator in all types of metal and glass packaging, and held several patents.
CPL Harry Blakeslee died July 4, 1999 at his Barrington home, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
