Russell Oscar Ortman was born February 25, 1926 in Chicago to Oscar and Elizabeth Brandt Ortman.
Ortman graduated from Crane Technical High School in 1943.
He served in WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps from May 27, 1944 to Apr 22, 1946, when he was honorably discharged with an unknown rank.
On September 18, 1948, Ortman married Evelyn Belan in Villa Park; they raised one child.
He worked for a radio parts company until joining his brother’s firm, Abrasive Rubber Wheel Company, in 1959. He assumed ownership in 1970, and became the President until his passing.
Ortman was a past President of the Fox Lake Rotary Club, and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Veteran Russell Ortman died December 2, 1998 in his Barrington home, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
