Henry George Sass, Jr. was born August 11, 1918 in Barrington to Henry and Marie Leopold Sass.
Sass served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Petty Office First Class.
On July 28, 1945, he married Darlene Homuth in Barrington; they raised two children.
Sass was the owner of Sassco Plumbing, the President of Evergreen Cemetery, and a volunteer fireman for 43 years.
He was very active in Masonic organizations: a 50-year member of the Lounsbury Lodge in Barrington, a past High Priest of Palatine Chapter 206, thrice Illustrious Master of Cryptic Council 46, Past Commander of Bethel Commandery 36, a member of Chicago Scottish Rite, and member of the Medinah Temple Fire Unit.
PO1 Henry Sass, Jr. died September 27, 1999 in Barrington, and is buried with his wife and family in Evergreen Cemetery.
