Harold August Schwemm was born September 26, 1910 in Chicago to August and Dora Lyons Schwemm.
Schwemm began working for the Chicago and North Western Railroad working in 1937, and retired nearly 40 years later.
Schwemm enlisted for service in World War II on March 23, 1942, and served with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division until September 21, 1945 when he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class.
He was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post #158.
PFC Harold Schwemm died May 19, 1998 in Wauconda, and is buried with his family in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
