Newspapers.com: A collection of over 29,000 digitized newspapers dating from the late-1700s. (Stand-alone $150/yr or add to an Ancestry.com account).

Historical Newspapers Online-Free Resources

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers. Chronicling America contains millions of newspaper pages from nearly every state and territory in the United States published from 1736-1963.

Old Fulton New York Postcards: Besides post cards, there is a database of digitized newspapers from New York and some other states and Canada.

Small Town Papers: Digitized community newspapers dating from the 1850s onward.

Illinois Newspaper Project: University of Illinois. The Illinois Newspaper Project (INP) identifies, preserves, and digitizes Illinois newspapers, some as far back as the 1840s.

Elephind: Includes digitized historic newspapers from collections around the world.
